A fairly normal day in these parts...
gym... cleaning... chasing... Star Wars.
What felt remarkable about today is how I've had to learn how to do everything I need to get done with Grant in tow.
I used to do all of my housework when Grant was napping.
He doesn't nap anymore (not by his choice – we'd just rather have him sleep through the night).
Example:
vacuuming.
Now he helps me vacuum by standing with me and “pushing” the vacuum for me. It takes about four times as long to vacuum this way, but it gets done.
Same with mopping the floor.
When it comes to laundry I have him help me put the clothes in and then he gets to “push the button” to start the washer.
It's not that any of this is really hard but I've had to figure out my own system for keeping life going on as normal with a very curious toddler glued to my hip.
It's just something every mom has to go through, I know, but it's sort of a remarkable stage we've reached.
Grant's love for Star Wars continues. He doesn't really care about Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi but sometimes we have to put one of those on to keep our own sanity – I mean, really, how often can we watch Star Wars? My new favorite line from Star Wars is now “This bickering is pointless.” Some random bad guy says it and it sounds just insane.
Tomorrow morning, very early, it's back to the root canal chair for me.
I'm REALLY hoping that this is significantly less traumatic than what I went through last week. I do not have time to be in pain tomorrow. After the dentist I'm meeting friends for breakfast, then off to the Y and Grant is getting his hair cut! Plus, tomorrow night is the new Top Chef! It's a busy day!
